The Galapagos archipelago located 1000 km far from the Ecuadorian
Coast is made up by 13 big islands, 6 small ones, 42 ilots and
256 rocks.
Galapagos has been declared
National Park since 1959 and it is the second biggest Marine Reserve
since 1986. The total area of the archipelago is 53000 km2 from
which 7882 km2 are land and 45000 km2 are water.
The populated Islands
are: Baltra, Santa Cruz, San Cristóbal, Isabela, and Floreana.
The total population is about 20000 inhabitants.
